Nod on Heart FM Breakfast this morning with JK and Lucy

Thanks to my mate John Berry (from Horsham) for telling me that Nod did a short phone interview with JK and Lucy on the Heart FM Breakfast Show this morning .

The DJ "JK" mentioned that he knew Nod and whenever they meet up, Nod always has a story about somebody famous.

He therefore rang Nod this morning, mentioned a few famous names, and asked if Nod had some stories to tell.

JK - "The Rolling Stones ?"

Nod - "We got to know them quite well. In the 1970's we both used the Olympic Studios in Barnes for recording. At one stage Slade
were recording during the daytime sessions and the Stones were recording in the evenings. Mick Jagger always used to turn up
early - and would sit in a chat and listen to our stuff. Likewise, he would play us some of the stuff the Stones were recording."

JK - "The Beatles ?"

Nod - "I got to meet them all apart from John Lennon.
I was quite friendly with Ringo - we used to go for meals and drinks together.
I got to meet George Harrison when we did a benefit gig together in Birmingham (NEC?).
And I always got on well with Paul McCartney - Linda used to send me a calendar every year."

(Note - Didn't Nod meet John Lennon when Slade were recording Merry Xmas Everybody in New York?)

JK - "Elvis?"

Nod - "I never got to meet Elvis. However, our manager Chas Chandler did. We were playing in the States, not far from Vegas, and
Chas got invited to meet with Elvis.

He didn't take us as he was frightened that we would be "influenced" by him".
