I was blown away to get an email from Jim Fry in the USA today.
He wrote to me over 30 years ago....and I featured his letter in the Nov/Dec 1980 Fan Club Newsletter... As Jim says - it just seems like yesterday - where have the years gone.
I have responded to Jim that Johnny Howells and Mick Marston were at the 1991 Convention. Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos of them at the event. Has anyone got any pics that I can use?
Dave
Just a quick note to tell you how absolutely brilliant your website is. I could go on and on and on but the wealth of information you have provided the Slade fans is impeccable and historical. I have found tidbits of info that is staggering! I never knew the fan club secretary was a guy! Brilliant stuff, and deja vu.......
I found the original letter I sent you that you published in the Nov/Dec 1980 fan club newletter (www.sladefanclub.com site). It literally gave me goose bumps. It can't be 30 years ago can it? I honestly don't know where the time as gone and I sure as hell don't really feel any older, I believe its the music not only of Slade but other bands as well that keeps me feeling young.
I loved the recent picture of you with Noddy. Ive come across some pics of Noddy where he looks his age and then I look at the one taken with you in it and if you would put some casual clothes on Nod I really believe he could knock a few years off of his looks. What really is stopping a Slade reunion? How about a one off to properly put the band in the spotlight once more and to have the fans show there love and appreciation of all the great music they have given us. Surely any doubts or shortcomings could be put aside for one last show. I would be hard pressed to believe Noddy never ever ever thinks about picking up a guitar. Do you think that although they say publically they would never reunite but is it possible behind closed doors they have noticed an upswell of interest in the band with the reissues and mention of the hall of fame and if the price was right and differences could be put aside and Yes!
A bonifide Slade reunion could really happen? I'm sure this is wishful thinking on my part. I asked you this once before Dave but you never got back with me and if you can't this time around either I can understand.
I'm sure you get tons of letters and there is no way you can respond to them all, there is never enough time and thats okay but I will run it by you again, that 1991 Walsall reunion where they did the one song, I seem to recall reading somewhere that some members of the original Nbetweens showed up like possible Johnny Howells and Mick Marson but can you confirm this?
I would have thought there would be pics in the 1991 gallery you have posted but perhaps the article I read this in was erroneous. Anyway, keep the info coming. I can't get enough. I just wanna a little bit......more Ha Ha Thanks again Dave Jim Fry from Lima, Ohio USA
