Hi Dave,

My name is Carl and I live in Dorset.  I’ve been a Slade fan from as long as I can remember – the first ever record I bought was “Everyday” – still remember the Polydor 45 which I bought with pocket money when I was 6 (nearly 7!).

Came across your websites as I have been quite reflective recently and when I’m down I put on a Slade CD and this then prompted me to look on-line to see what was around in terms of websites.  I was just trawling the internet and have been on your websites for 3 hours (should be trying to find some work though rather than reminiscing about the past!  – I am self employed).

I was born in Darlaston (near Walsall/Bilston) and my family are originally from the area.  My uncle used to know Nod when he/Nod were teenagers – and also Graham Swinnerton (my uncle says he used to go to Swinn’s house and also my uncle used to swap things with Nod for cigarettes in their misspent youth)..  My wife’s family are from Penn and her Auntie lives 5 minutes walk from Dave’s house – where we drink in the local pub when there.

Have seen Dave a few times around – both in Penn – petrol station and (Dave) jogging around the area (we visit there quite often) and also down here when I literally bumped into him when he was jogging he and his wife stay at a nice hotel in Sandbanks – or at least they used to!)

I consider Bilston my spiritual home town and regularly go to the Trumpet when we’re there and have even been known to go in Jim’s local pub in Brewood (we have friends in Brewood) in the hope I’ll meet him but appreciate he’s a very private person and wouldn’t dream of being intrusive.

That’s all really – just wanted to let you know that your work and effort on those websites is fantastic and I am quietly envious of your experiences throughout the years.

I hope your health is good and things are well for you and your family.

Kind regards

Carl

Hey,love running into your site! A fellow Slade fan! I've recently had the pleasure of making email friends with Dom Powell and keeping a correspondence going. He's been an absolute gent to me,the greatest, kindest guy you could imagine. We've talked music,drumming...he now lives in Denmark with his lovely wife. The greatest bloke ever, man!
