Pleased to report that Noddy went along with his old mate Dave Clark to see the Glad All Over! Musical last night. He stood in the aisle and sang and danced along to the tunes....
One of my spies has spotted Nod at Faro airport today.... Maybe he's gone to stay on his boat in Portugal. Happy holiday Nod.
Just realised that the above pic, found on the internet, from 1976 - has some history behind it.
The pic was taken at the Sunset Marquis Hotel - Slade's regular haunt when they stayed in LA during the 1970's. The boys stayed there again in 1984 when they returned for a week in March/April to promote Run Runaway. They also used a bar/restaurant called Barney's Beanerie.... The locations and events during their stay (Sunset Marquis, Barney's and Don hitting the town with Bob Dylan's daughter) were mentioned in Nod's lyrics to Ooh La La in LA in 1987. Just to advise anyone that doesn't know already... There is a Slade fans party being organised by Gwen Dale at the Lyndon House Hotel (9-10 Upper Rushall Street, Walsall, WS1 2HA) on Saturday 29 September (midday to 2am). Rooms can be booked at the Lyndon House Hotel (Kelly 01992 612511) - or maybe at the Holiday Inn Express (if it gets full). Fundraising is for the Walsall Hospice - a charity supported by Noddy Holder. Contact Gwen Dale on Facebook for details. (Personally I would LOVE to go. However, I start a new job next week, and it involves working nights... If when I sort out my rota, and find I am not working that evening, I will be there!) Party T-Shirt (above) available in Black only - £7 plus P&P. Contact Andy Boden on Facebook to purchase one.
