A letter from Canada...

Dave

I'm Tony from just outside of Toronto, Canada.

I stumbled onto your Slade website. I've always liked Slade but in the last 3 years have become a huge fan. I picked up the 'Slade CD Box' a few years ago and play the living daylights out of it! In fact it's playing as I write!

I'm going to have a good look at your site when I get the chance. I'm looking forward to it.

Cheers,

Tony
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Tony

Welcome. How great is it for me to get emails from far off places around the globe...especially territories where Slade never made it really big all those years ago!

Hope you have an enjoyable read!

Dave

MORE FROM TONY

Dave,

I just had some time to go through your website. Fantastic! Very comprehensive. Great pictures and stories.

I'll give you a little history on how I became aware of Slade... My uncle had moved to Toronto (from the UK) in 1975. I was a Huge KISS fan (still am in fact) and my uncle said "if you like them - you'll like these guys." He handed me the 'Slade Alive' LP. I couldn't believe how loud it was?!  But it really wasn't until the 'You Boyz Make Big Noize' (1987 or so?) album that I re-connected with them again. Then I started back cataloging and trying to get some earlier records. It was hard to do here in Canada. Not as hard as it is in the U.S.A however.

Then about 3 years ago, as I stated - I got the Slade Box. I'm a Bass player and Jim Lea is a huge influence on me. His playing is amazing. The entire band is brilliant.

I loved your website and will go back to it many times to get info on Slade.
PS - 'Little Sheila' is one of my faves!! (But there as SO MANY!!)...

Take Care...

Tony

PS - I would have loved to have seen Slade and KISS together in 1975 when they played a few dates in the U.S.A. My Lord!! You want to talk about an audience being Deaf and Blinded after those shows??!! Wow!! I know Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are HUGE Slade fans.. Gene always praises them as perhaps KISS' biggest influence.

Jim Fry from the U.S.

Hello Dave, its Jim Fry again and I just wanted to write and let you know how much I enjoyed the letter from Tony in Canada. Also a big thank you to Russ Myners for sending that pic of Johnny Howells and Mickey Marston from the Slade convention back in 91. Pretty neat to see those two after all those years, do you suppose they wonder "if I would have only stayed in the band"....... food for thought anyway. I must ask you Dave, the pic you printed of you and the great Noddy, if you don't mind, what did you happen to talk about? Was it short and casual, or did you talk a little about the fan club and the good ole days? I know if I had the chance I would definately ask him the age old question as to the chances of the lads ever getting back together again it not for a tour or reunion show but perhaps to knock out a few ideas for maybe an ep or even another album. I am sure Salvo would relish the opportunity to unlesh some brand new recordings! Did he even hint perhaps that deep down he misses belting out a song or playing the guitar? Just curious, anyway keep up the great monthly postings and thanks again for all of your hard work put in on your site. Take care Jim Fry
